My name is Dr Liz Jervis (formerly Schilpzand), and I am the Founder of Sombok Psychology and an Australian Clinical Psychologist with over a decade of experience in clinical practice, supervision, training, and service development.
I first visited Cambodia in 2018 and was deeply impacted by the people and community I encountered. I relocated to Phnom Penh in 2020 to volunteer with an anti-trafficking organisation and later founded Sombok Psychology in September 2022, with a vision of creating a clinic grounded in relational safety, ethical practice, and high-quality psychological care, alongside a strong commitment to building the capacity of Cambodian psychologists and counsellors. Supporting local clinicians through training, supervision, and professional development has been central to Sombokβs mission from the beginning.
In April 2026, I relocated back to Australia and stepped away from my day-to-day clinical role at Sombok Psychology. I now work in an advisory capacity to the clinic, supporting the leadership team, clinical governance, and the ongoing development of services. I no longer provide in-person therapy in Cambodia, but remain closely connected to the clinic and its values, including its continued investment in local workforce development.
I continue to practise clinically through my Australian practice, where I provide therapy to adult clients via telehealth. I am also a Board-Approved Supervisor and remain deeply committed to supervision, reflective practice, and the ethical development of psychologists and counsellors.
Sombok Psychology continues to hold a special place in my heart. Building Sombok has been one of the most meaningful chapters of my professional life.
